Los Angeles - The Fun Part

It's all fun times, but the best times in LA are hanging out with friends and going on adventures. Even if they're mini-adventures. Like visiting the exterior of where they shot Xanadu with Van. Or climbing Runyon Canyon with Toddy and Ivan. Gossiping over drinks with new friends. Or getting stopped in the street by Taryn Manning so she can pet my cousin's itty bitty fluffy dog.

Spiders, LA and Mark's Birthday
This weekend was cu-razy! We finished up a very successful reading of The Spider in the Bathtub on Sunday. The only thing that really mattered was that my six year old niece loved it. Then on Monday I took our awesome producer, Victoria around Austin to meet Bob Hudgins, get a tour of Austin Studios and get a tour of Troublemaker Studios. And in a matter of a few hours, I convinced her to take a more serious look at shooting in Austin. Woohoo! And lastly, but not leastly, we celebrated my husband's birthday. He's one kick ass dude for being so patient with me over the last few weeks. I love him ... because he rulez!
So Toddy's been in town since Saturday. Tuesday morning we kicked off a week of work, work, work on upcoming meetings, polishing up scripts and hashing out new story ideas. I think we've come up with at least one new kick ass idea that I'm kind of getting crazy excited about. More in the comedy/fantasy vein. We'll see how it develops.
But we head to LA on Sunday. For two reasons: more meetings, and a screening of Love Bug at the DGA on June 25th. So if you're in Los Angeles next Friday night, please come see it!
All the details you need to know are right here.

Spiders, Dustbusters and Superheroes Oh My!
We're staging a reading of The Spider in the Bathtub tomorrow night at the Cap City Comedy Club. It's been a blast watching the characters and moments come to life. I find myself chuckling out loud through the whole thing. Such silly characters and playful moments. I just love it. And I'm even more psyched now about making it into a movie.
So if you've got nothing to do tomorrow night, you should check it out. It's a total family affair.

Alkaline Trio Covers Archers of Loaf
Ok, so I lied. I love Archers of Loaf and of course LOVE their song Web in Front. The Icky Mettle album is pure gold to me. Web in Front was a favorite play when I deejayed at the FSU radio station, V89 in college.

Sucking at the Blog Thing
Sorry I've been sucking so bad at this whole blog thing lately. It's been freakin' busy. Between prepping for our The Spider in the Bathtub reading for The Austin Film Festival on June 13th (please come, please come), setting up meetings for our producer on Spider when she comes to town on Sunday (trying to convince her we need to shoot here) and finishing up our Brother-In-Law script (1 day away from going out)-- days are sneaking away from me. I guess it's better to be busy with film stuff than having too much free time on my hands to ramble about stupid things on my blog like music videos and fan films.
Oh yeah and I'll be in LA June 20th - 26th for meetings and a Love Bug screening at the DGA for the Texas Filmmaker's Showcase.

jumping off bridges - Michael Emerson Fan Made Video
I love that 20,000 people have watched this fan made video. I just wish those 20,000 would buy the movie. That'd be pretty awesome.
