Golden Globe Nominations - Where's Once? Away from Her?

Did some of the Golden Globe voters just not get to the art houses this year? Maybe it's not in their normal hood and they'd have to drive a few more miles, but don't they get screeners sent to their homes? What breaks my heart is that Across the Universe and Hairspray are in a category that Once should've dominated.

And where is Sarah Polley's name on the list? I'm glad there was some acknowledgement of Away from Her with Julie Christie, but still.

Nods that I'm happy for: Michael Clayton, No Country for Old Men, Daniel Day Lewis, Ryan Gosling, Julie Christie, Cate Blanchett, Javier Bardem, Tom Wilkinson, Tilda Swinton, The Coens, Tim Burton, Rataouille, Persepolis and last but certainly not least, Kevin Dillon. Long live Johnny Drama!

Agree entirely. The Globes are noted for their populist approach - so we have to put up with Julia Roberts and John Travolta because everyone has heard of them. How Once could have not received a single nomination is beyond me. As for the wondrous Sarah Polley - well, all I'll say is that the decision not to recognise her says far more about the Globes than it does about Sarah.

I'm adding Jeremy Davies to my "overlooked" category. His performance in Rescue Dawn, Jesus. And Ben Foster in 3:10 to Yuma. Didn't like the movie, but LOVED him in it.
